This page covers vanekchristmas.com and the forms on it (panel messages, song requests, photo uploads, and the contact form). It explains what information we collect and how we use it.
When you submit a message or a song request, we collect the name you optionally give us, your message or song choice, and your IP address (used only to prevent spam and rate-limit rapid submissions). This is used only to display your message on our light panel or forward your song request — we don't use it for anything else, and we don't sell or share it with third parties.
Photos you upload are reviewed privately before anything is made public. Approved photos are shown on our visitor photos page along with any caption you provided; anything not approved is not published, and can be deleted on request.
If you use the contact form on our About page, your name, email address, and message are emailed to us so we can reply — they aren't stored anywhere else or used for anything but responding to you.
Our Letters to Santa page lets kids (with a parent's help, if they'd like) write a letter to Santa and, if they choose, leave a return email address or mailing address so we can send a personal reply. Both are entirely optional — you can send a letter without giving either. We only ever use that contact information to send a one-time reply to that specific letter; we never use it for marketing, and never share or sell it to anyone. Once we've replied, we delete the letter and any contact information that came with it.
vanekchristmas.com uses the YouTube Data API to automatically start and end a live broadcast of our display's camera feed on our own YouTube channel each night during the show season, tied to the display's regular schedule. This is a private automation tool built and used solely by us (Jeremy Vanek) to manage our own channel — it does not access, read, or store any data belonging to anyone else's YouTube account, channel, or videos, and there are no other users of this integration. The only information it uses is standard OAuth credentials (an access/refresh token) needed to create, start, and stop broadcasts on our own channel; these are stored only on the private server that runs the automation and are never shared with, sold to, or used by any third party. Our use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We don't use cookies for tracking or run third-party advertising on this site.
